BIOGRAPHIE/BIOGRAPHY

Dragnef-39.jpg

My practice lies at the intersection of research, performance, and visual arts, and draws on the study of material culture and everyday survival strategies in post-communist societies. I approach art as a tool for critical inquiry and memory, where domestic objects, ordinary gestures, and traces of lived experience become carriers of history, ideology, and embodied knowledge.

My projects are based on simple actions — collecting, assembling, repeating, transforming — that bring forward often invisible narratives, particularly those related to gendered labor, the domestic sphere, and strategies of resilience.

I favor modest or recycled materials and minimalist frameworks in which the presence of the body, duration, and the relationship with the audience take precedence over the production of lasting objects. My work interrogates the memory of everyday life, the fragility of democracies, and the enduring legacies of authoritarian regimes within the intimacy of ordinary lives.

Informed by popular traditions and informal knowledge from my culture of origin, I explore how the humblest gestures — preserving, repairing, transmitting — can become forms of quiet resistance and lucidity.
